Two dead in German courthouse shooting

LANDSHUT, Germany, April 7 (UPI) -- Two people were killed and several others were injured Tuesday when a man opened fire in a courthouse in Germany, police said.

The shooter apparently turned the gun on himself but it wasn't clear whether he was counted as one of the two deceased, CNN reported.

The 60-year-old gunman was in a public gallery in a first-floor courtroom when he opened fire in the courthouse at Landshut, about 34 miles northeast of Munich, The Times of London reported.

German media reported an inheritance case was being heard a the time and the gunman's sister, participating in the case and in the courtroom, was killed while her lawyer was injured.

A court spokeswoman said the gunman left the courtroom and fired shots elsewhere in the building before committing suicide, the British newspaper reported. Four of the injured were listed in critical condition.

A court official told CNN there was "no more danger."
