ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 4 (UPI) -- At least 25 people were killed Saturday in two suicide attacks in Pakistan, one in the capital and the other in North Waziristan near the Afghan border.

The attack on a convoy in North Waziristan may have been carried out in retaliation for a U.S. drone attack that killed at least 13 people, Press Trust of India reported. Baitullah Mehsood, a Taliban commander in Pakistan, said previously this week that the group would respond to U.S. air strikes.

At least 17 people, five of them children, died when a bomber detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives in a busy marketplace in Miranshah. The blast damaged several buildings, including a hospital and press club.

In Islamabad, a bomber apparently took advantage of a security lapse at a Frontier Corps camp, PTI said. The explosion occurred at about 7:30 p.m., while members of the paramilitary force were eating their evening meal.

All the dead and the five injured were Frontier Corps members. They were assigned to diplomatic and VIP protection.

Rehman Malik, head of the Interior Ministry, said the attack was carried out by one person.
