Russian jetliner makes emergency landing

MOSCOW, April 4 (UPI) -- A Russian Boeing 737 jetliner was safe Saturday after making an emergency landing at Moscow's Vnukovo airport, an airport source said.

The flight, which was en route from Moscow to Sochi, reportedly developed an engine malfunction and returned to Moscow, unnamed sources told Russia's Interfax news agency.

"The plane has made an emergency landing. None of the 69 people on board the plane was harmed," an airport source said, adding that the aircraft's crew detected vibrations in its left engine immediately after takeoff and decided to land.

Preliminary reports indicated the jetliner was operated by the Sky Express airline, Interfax reported.
