MIAMI, April 3 (UPI) -- Police in Florida have been honored for their role in capturing Gary Parham Jr., who was wanted for a 1998 killing in Maryland.
The Miami Herald reported Friday that after receiving a tip, members of the Miami-Dade Police South District staked out his home and finally arrested Parham, who had eluded authorities in several states.
The Miami-Dade Police South District's Citizen Advisory Committee recently honored the officers.
Police Sgts. William Crider and Matthew McCue and Officers John Brennan, Gaspar Hechevarria, Enrique Sanchez and Brad Taylor were awarded ''Officer of the Month'' at a ceremony, the newspaper said.
Parham had been living under another name in South Miami-Dade. He is a suspect in the 1998 murder of 26-year-old Theodora Cooper, an armed robbery and two 2005 rapes.
