Hu: China eyeing better S. Korea relations

LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said Friday his country is prepared to work with South Korea to improve relations between the countries.

Hu, meeting with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in London, expressed confidence that relations witll be improved, China's official state-run Xinhua news agency said.

The Chinese president said both sides should use the worldwide economic crisis to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

"This is of positive significance to promoting economic growth of the two countries and the restoration of world economic growth," Hu said.

Lee praised economic and trade relations between his country and China, saying he was hopeful the two sides could battle the economic downturn together, Xinhua said.
