Baby's body found wrapped in plastic

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 3 (UPI) -- Police in Vancouver, British Columbia, appealed for information after a dead baby was found wrapped in plastic in a residential alley.

Vancouver Police Constable Jana McGuinness tole The Province newspaper a homeowner made the discovery Thursday midday between two homes.

"When our members arrived, they found a deceased newborn inside the bag," she said.

As of Friday, police hadn't released the gender or ethnicity of the child, but repeated appeals were made through the media for the mother or anyone else with information to come forward.

McGuinness said two people had been interviewed. She said there was no immediate indication the child was from the neighborhood, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said.
