AURORA, Ind., April 2 (UPI) -- Police in Aurora, Ind., allege a 10-year-old boy stole his parents' minivan Thursday and led officers on a high-speed chase that ended with a crash.

Police said the boy, whose identity was not reported, crashed into a utility pole after colliding with several parked cars while fleeing the pursuing police cruisers, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

Witness Bobby McClellan said the young driver was lucky to be alive given the speed at which he was traveling and his disproportionate size in comparison to the minivan, which his parents had reported stolen about 8:40 a.m.

"There were, like, 25 cop cars chasing him," McClellan said. "There were so many cops, it was unbelievable.

"He was running about 70 miles an hour. He's lucky to be alive he was going so fast. He couldn't even see over the steering wheel he was so small."

McClellan told the Enquirer it appeared the child only suffered non-life threatening injuries.
