ORLANDO, Fla., April 2 (UPI) -- A Florida woman said she survived being attacked by two pit bull terriers in Orlando, Fla., by biting and kicking at the enraged animals.

Tracy Lindsey, 22, said while recovering at the Orlando Regional Medical Center that the thought of her daughters, 3-year-old Gabriel and 18-month-old Annabel, urged her to fight for her life, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Thursday.

"I tried everything but it wasn't much of a fight," Lindsey told the newspaper. "There was no other option. I couldn't lose. I had to survive for my girls."

Lindsey suffered significant nerve and muscle damage to one of her legs in the attack.

The dogs' owner, Jessie Iaquinta, insists she doesn't know why her dogs, which are scheduled to be euthanized, attacked Lindsey or how the chained animals escaped before the incident.

Lake County Animal Services Director Marjorie Boyd said last Saturday's attack by the dogs was particularly disturbing.

"This was an unprovoked mauling, one of the worst I've seen in my 13 years here," Boyd told the Sentinel. "These are very dangerous dogs."
