JERUSALEM, April 1 (UPI) -- New Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says Israel is not obligated by agreements reached at the U.S.-hosted Annapolis Conference in 2007.

Lieberman said Israel is only obligated to follow the so-called Road Map, IsraelNN.com reported Wednesday.

"There is just one document we are obliged to abide by -- the Road Map confirmed by the United Nations Security Council," Lieberman said, noting the Israeli government did not endorse the Annapolis process.

He also reportedly took issues with the policies of former Prime Ministers Ehud Olmert and Ariel Sharon.

"They took dramatic steps, made far-reaching offers -- we saw the disengagement and Annapolis -- but from what I saw there was no peace as a result, the opposite in fact," he was quoted by the Web site as saying.

The Web site noted that the Road Map calls on the Palestinian Authority to end terrorist acts and requires Israel to end construction in Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria.
