OAKLAND, Calif., March 27 (UPI) -- Hundreds of police officers from California and as far away as Canada joined the entire Oakland department Friday for the funeral of four slain officers.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, both of California's senators, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, and Attorney General Jerry Brown were also in Oracle Arena for the service, seated on the stage with Mayor Ron Dellums, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Sgt. Mark Dunakin, Officer John Hege, Sgt. Ervin Romans and Sgt. Daniel Sakai were gunned down Saturday by Lovelle Mixon, a parolee. Dunakin and Hege, on motorcycle patrol, were shot when they pulled Mixon over in a traffic stop, while Romans and Sakai, members of the SWAT team, were killed breaking into an apartment where he had holed up. Mixon was also killed.

Bagpipes played as the four coffins were carried into the arena and placed on the stage. The slain officers were eulogized by family and friends and by the Rev. Jayson Landeza, the Oakland police chaplain.
