PITHIVIERS, France, March 25 (UPI) -- A French 3M Corp. executive was being held hostage Wednesday by laid-off workers angry about their severance payments, union officials said.
The Force Ouvriere union said Luc Rousselet, a 3M industrial director, was being held as a "bargaining chip" in Pithiviers, France -- the latest example of French "bossnapping," The Times of London reported.
"Until we have a commitment from 3M that they will increase pay packets and are ready to discuss our conditions for negotiations, then Mr. Rousselet will have to remain here," Force Ouvriere's Jean-Francois Caparros said. "It is out of the question that he leaves without discussing our conditions."
Two weeks ago, the chief executive officer and director of human relations of Sony France were both held hostage by employees in a protest over layoffs. They were released a day later after agreeing to renegotiate severance pay, The Times said.
