Mother, disabled daughter found in lake

SOUTH CERNEY, England, March 21 (UPI) -- An English woman apparently drowned herself and her 9-year-old disabled daughter in a lake near her home in the Cotswolds, authorities said.

The bodies of Jude Richmond and Millie Whitehead-Richmond were found Wednesday in South Cerney, Gloucestershire, the BBC reported.

Jude Richmond and her husband, Nick, had separated. He learned of the deaths of his wife and step-daughter when he landed at Heathrow International Airport late Wednesday after a trip to Australia.

"They were everything to me," he said Friday in his first public statement. "It feels like my insides have been ripped out."

Millie Richmond suffered from cerebral palsy.

The Rev. David Bowers is planning a memorial service for mother and daughter Sunday evening at All Hallows Church in South Cerney. He said it would give the community a chance to come together to share their grief.
