LIBERTY, Texas, March 20 (UPI) -- A 16-year-old boy was beaten with a skateboard by his parents, who are special education teachers in Liberty County, Texas, authorities allege.

Donna Hawkins, a Harris County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman, said special education teachers Leonard and Amy Law have been charged with misdemeanor assault of a family member for the alleged beating endured by their son, whose identity was not reported, the Houston Chronicle said Friday.

Hawkins said Leonard Law, a teacher at Dayton High School, may face felony charges in relation to Tuesday's beating, which left his son with two possible broken arms.

Amy Law, meanwhile, has also been charged with not reporting the alleged act of abuse to authorities. Amy Law is a teacher at Woodrow Wilson Junior High, officials told the Chronicle.

The two teachers, who reside with their son in Harris County, have not been arrested to date, but have been placed on paid administrative leave while the abuse matter is under investigation.
