BELGRADE, Serbia, March 20 (UPI) -- Serbian war crimes prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says he informed an EU official of an "excellent" Serbian effort to locate war crime perpetrators.
Vukcevic said he told EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn that while his country is cooperating fully in the search for suspected Serbian war criminals, such cooperation doesn't necessarily entail the arrest of suspects like Ratko Mladic, the Serbian newspaper Blic said Friday.
"I pointed out political will that Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic are arrested," Vukcevic said. "I also mentioned excellent cooperation between all Serbian services engaged in locating and arrest of the war crimes suspects being looked for by the Hague Tribunal."
Mladic and Hadzic are wanted in connection with acts of genocide during the 1990s.
Vukcevic added that Serbian prosecutors were working fully with the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo and the U.N. Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo.
