11 U.S. students kidnapped in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY , March 20 (UPI) -- Eleven American university students were kidnapped and released while spending their spring break in Guatemala.

According to a report in the Michigan State University newspaper Friday, the students from the university, along with a tour guide and bus driver, were stopped by gunmen last month, then tied up.

The students were spending their holiday from classes working on a non-profit project to improve the country's tourism industry.
