Funeral for 4 relatives of Ala. gunman

SAMSON, Ala., March 17 (UPI) -- A small town in Alabama came together Tuesday to mourn four members of one family from four generations killed by a relative.

The coffins of Virginia White, her son, James Alfred White, his daughter, Tracy Wise, and her son, Dean Wise, were brought to First Baptist Church in Samson in a procession, the Dothan (Ala.) Eagle reported. The mourners included 15-year-old Dean's high school classmates and those who had known older members of the family.

The funeral was the sixth since March 10 when Virginia White's grandson, Michael McLendon, 28, shot his mother, the other members of his family and five other people who appear to have been random victims before taking his own life.

The mourners for the Whites and Wises included Deputy Josh Myers, whose wife and daughter were killed because they had gone to visit their neighbor, James White. Andrea and Corinne Myers were buried Sunday.

"The residents of this town have formed a circle of love and support around these people," said state Sen. Harri Anne Smith. "This was a service today about love, faith and family."
