Police use Taser to subdue pit bull

MADISON, Wis., March 14 (UPI) -- Police in Madison, Wis., say they used a Taser on a pit bull in a failed attempt to rescue a puppy from the dog's mouth.

Unable to catch the pit bull, police used the Taser's electrical current to control the dog until animal control officers could get close enough to put a snare around it's neck, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Saturday.

While the Taser subdued the pit bull without killing it, emergency workers were unable to save the puppy. The pit bull was taken to the Dane County Humane Society Thursday, where it was to be euthanized, reported WKOW-TV, Madison.

Police say both the owner of the puppy and the owner of the pit bull were bitten trying to save the puppy before police arrived.
