SAO PAULO, March 13 (UPI) -- A Brazilian man accused of rape hijacked a plane with his daughter in tow, then crashed the aircraft killing himself and his daughter, police said Friday.
Kleber Barbosa da Silva convinced a pilot Thursday afternoon to take himself and his 5-year-old daughter on an aerial sightseeing tour. Before takeoff, he forced the pilot out of the plane at gunpoint and took control of the plane, O Globo reported Friday.
Da Silva flew the aircraft for two hours before crashing the plane in the parking lot of a mall in the central Brazilian state of Goiana.
It was unclear whether Da Silva crashed the plane or purpose or the aircraft ran out of fuel, the report said.
A warrant had been issued earlier in the week for his arrest on charges he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl.
