HARARE, Zimbabwe, March 9 (UPI) -- Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai arrived back in the country Monday from Botswana where he was treated for injuries, a spokesman said.
A spokesman for Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change Party told CNN the prime minister, who was "badly bruised" in a car accident last week, was preparing for the Wednesday funeral of his wife Susan, who was killed in the crash.
Tsvangirai was flown to Botswana Saturday after suffering head injuries from the wreck, which MDC officials suspect was an assassination attempt, the U.S. broadcaster reported. Party leaders say they are calling for an independent investigation of the incident.
MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa told reporters that Susan Tsvangirai's body would be taken to Glamis Stadium in Harare for a Tuesday church service, with the funeral will set for Wednesday in the Tsvangirais's rural home of Buhera, south of Harare.
