CLEVELAND, March 6 (UPI) -- The man suspected of killing his new wife, her sister and the sister's three children took his own life Friday, Cleveland police said.
Davon Crawford, 33, shot himself as police closed in, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. He had been located hiding behind a shower curtain in a duplex as police searched room to room.
A manhunt began Thursday evening, minutes after police found the bodies of Lechea Crawford, 30; her sister, Rose Stevens, 25; Destiny Woods, 5; and twins Deon and Davion Primm, 2. Another boy was wounded, and Laylah Crawford, born to Lechea in January, was unharmed.
Sheriff's deputies and members of the State Highway Patrol joined the search Friday. Police Chief Michael McGrath warned that anyone who helped Crawford escape or hide would be prosecuted, and a woman found at the house where he killed himself was arrested.
Davon and Lechea Crawford married Monday, family members told the Plain Dealer.
Crawford had a violent history with convictions for voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault.
