Sara Jane Olson plans to return to Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 6 (UPI) -- Sara Jane Olson, a violent radical whose past caught up with her, will probably be allowed to return to Minnesota when she is paroled, officials said Friday.

Shari Burt, a spokeswoman for the state Corrections Department, said that under state law inmates paroled in other states have the right to move to Minnesota if they have family members living there, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. She said that the process of verifying that Olson meets the requirements is under way.

Olson was known as Kathleen Soliah when she was a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army in the 1970s. She adopted the name she now uses when she became a fugitive, eventually moving to Minneapolis, marrying and having three children.

She is set to be paroled in two weeks from a California prison after serving seven years for crimes committed while she was with the SLA, the group best known for kidnapping Patty Hearst.

Olson's husband, Dr. Fred Peterson, remained in Minnesota while she was in prison.
