Obama set to name FCC chairman

WASHINGTON, March 4 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said he plans to name his top techie as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.

Julius Genachowski is architect of Obama's wildly successful drive to use the Internet as a serious fundraising tool during his primary and general campaigns, the USA Today reported Wednesday. He also pushed using wireless technology as a way to connect with supporters.

After the formal announcement, the U.S. Senate must confirm Genachowski's nomination.
