Texas seeks evaulation of teen mom

AUSTIN, Texas, March 3 (UPI) -- A teenage mother from a polygamist compound in Texas brought someone else's baby to a meeting with social service workers, officials say.

The state Department of Family and Protective Services asked a judge to order a psychological examination for the 17-year-old, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday. She reportedly had a baby in June when she was 16.

The Yearning For Zion Ranch in Eldorado is operated by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a dissident Mormon group that believes in polygamy. Texas child protection workers removed hundreds of children from the ranch last year but were forced to return most of them.

Willie Jessop, an FLDS spokesman, said the girl is afraid of what the state might do to her and her baby.
