PHILADELPHIA, March 3 (UPI) -- Police say the landlord of an unlicensed Philadelphia boarding house allegedly killed a tenant and then built a hand-made coffin for his corpse.

Miguel Davilla, 27, was arrested by officers who discovered the wooden casket containing the victim's body in the living room of his Fairmount home after a worried boarder called them.

Police Capt. James Clark told the Philadelphia Daily News that Davilla allegedly beat 55-year-old Roben Woodsen to death with a baseball bat last weekend because his rent was late.

Davilla then allegedly scrounged some plywood and old doors and crafted a crude coffin, the News said Tuesday.

"It was a tailor-made box that fit the specifications of the individual he had killed," Clark said. "He didn't tell us where or what he was going to do with it," Clark said.
