ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Protests against a court ruling banning former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother from holding office entered a third day Saturday.
For his part, Sharif has accused President Asif Ali Zardari of influencing Wednesday's Supreme Court decision. The high court, in its decision, upheld the ban against Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif, BBC reported.
The British network reported that on Friday about 100 protesters tried to block the main highway into Islamabad by placing bricks and rocks on the road. Police responded by firing tear gas, forcing the crowd to disperse.
Meanwhile, hundreds protested in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, burning tires and blocking roads.
Authorities have filed cases against 300 people belonging to the Sharifs' PML-N party over the protests, BBC said.
