PARIS, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Some intimate mobile phone conversations of French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy were recorded and offered for sale to magazines, French officials say.

Marc-Antoine Moretto and Kamel Bahaj have been arrested by detectives in Paris on charges of tapping Bruni's phone in 2006 almost two years before the former model and recording star married French President Nicholas Sarkozy, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

The men reportedly offered to sell the recordings of Bruni's private conversations to two French magazines and were arrested following an 18-month investigation. Details of the probe are only now being revealed, the Telegraph said.

The two have been charged with invasion of Bruni's privacy and are scheduled to appear in court later this year.
