WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. President Obama said Friday he offered nominations to fill three key posts in his administration, including the Federal Trade Commission chief.

Obama said he would nominate Jon Leibowitz, currently the only Democratic commissioner on the FTC, to lead the regulatory panel, the White House said in a news release. He was sworn in as an FTC commissioner in 2004.

Obama's nominee for under secretary of transportation for policy in the Transportation Department is Roy Kienitz, currently the deputy chief of staff for Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, officials said.

Charlie Rose, a founding partner and corporate secretary of Franczek, Radelet & Rose law firm in Chicago is Obama's choice for general counsel to the Department of Education, the White House said.

"It gives me great confidence to announce the addition of such distinguished individuals to my administration," Obama said, "and I am grateful that they will be dedicating their considerable talents to serving the American people."
