Google's GMail crashes

LONDON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Google says it's trying to determine what caused GMail to crash Tuesday, leaving 113 million computer users without e-mail for several hours worldwide.

The crash affected Google's e-mail service in the United States, Asia, Europe and Australia, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The company apologized for the problem saying, "We know how important GMail is to users, so we take issues like this very seriously."

GMail usually is reliable, with little so-called "downtime" for repairs and upgrades, Internet users told the Telegraph.

Some users worked around the problem by accessing alternative e-mail services while others said they would simply make a cup of tea and wait for the problem to be resolved, the Telegraph reported from London.
