Home and nursing offered to octuplets mom

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- California octuplets mom Nadya Suleman hasn't responded yet to an offer of round-the-clock nursing care and a large home for her huge family, a charity says.

Linda West Conforti, founder of the non-profit Angels in Waiting, says her organization along with attorney Gloria Allred has offered to provide Suleman with a support system, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Allred says the offer would keep the family together without use of taxpayer funds.

"This is something where she can still be a mom," says Conforti. "We're not trying to rip these children away."

Under the offer, Conforti would provide volunteer nurses in eight-hour shifts.

She said it would probably take 14 trained professionals to care for the octuplets while also assisting Suleman with her six other children, three of whom have special needs.

The octuplets were born Jan. 26. at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower.
