LONDON, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Security officials say dozens of Islamic extremists trained in Somalia have returned to Britain seeking to stage terrorist assaults.
Citing unnamed counter-terrorism sources, The Times of London reported Monday that militants who flocked to Somalia in the wake of its invasion by Ethiopian forces two years ago are now coming back to Britain and may attempt to launch attacks in the country.
"Pakistan rightly gets the most attention in terms of external threats," a senior counter-terrorism source told the newspaper. "But we believe we should focus more on the Horn of Africa and Somalia in particular."
Meanwhile, an investigation by Britain's Channel 4 News, also indicates that a suicide bomber who grew up in London is believed to have blown himself up in an attack in Somalia that killed more than 20 soldiers, The Times said.
