Mother said Josh Powell threatened her

BEIJING, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Xu Lai, one of China's most famous bloggers, was stabbed at a bookstore in Beijing where he had been speaking, officials said.
Xu, the writer behind Pro-State in Flames, was recovering in a hospital from cuts to his midsection, officials said. The Times of London reported that the incident happened Saturday.
The newspaper said it was not known whether the attack related to a personal issue or Xu's writings.
The report noted that Xu is known well in China for his commentary on social and political issues. He is an editor at the Beijing News and his book "Fanciful Animals" was published in November.
Internet blogs are especially popular in China since newspapers are heavily censored.
