KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke met Saturday with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta.

Holbrooke, the White House envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, did not take questions following the meeting, but an Afghan official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the two officials discussed, among other things, the war on terror and the upcoming presidential elections, Xinhua reported.

Holbrooke arrived in Kabul Thursday. Earlier, he met with Afghan Defense Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak and Interior Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

Holbrooke is expected to travel to India for talks with leaders there, China's official news agency said.
