DENVER, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Denver police responding to a report of gunfire found a body in the trunk of a car that sped away as they arrived and then crashed early Thursday after a chase.

Three people were arrested, KWGN-TV reported. Two were still in the car when it hit a guardrail, while the third got out during the chase and tried to escape on foot.

Phillip Montano, 21, and Derrick Blake, 32, have been charged with first-degree murder. Angela Sanders, 33, the driver of the Toyota Camry, faces charges as an accessory and eluding police.

Officers responding to the call encountered a "visibly shaken" man who pointed out the house where the gunfire had been heard, said Steve Davis, a police department spokesman. He said the Camry left the scene as the officers approached the house.

The dead man, described as young and appearing Hispanic, had not been identified Thursday night.

"Investigators tell me they are certain that the entire incident is gang related," Davis said. "This was at least two rival gangs that clashed at the residence."
