Mountie shoots man with shotgun

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A Canadian Mountie killed a man armed with a shotgun after the suspect apparently fatally wounded a woman, officials said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer was called to the scene of a domestic dispute in 100 Mile House after a 56-year-old woman told a neighbor she had been shot, the Vancouver Sun reported.

An RCMP statement said the officer "discharged his service pistol at the man, striking him."

The Sun said the suspect was declared dead at the scene. The woman died en route to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Names of the victims weren't released.

Officers were continuing the investigation.
