GUIYANG, China, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A blast at an illegal fireworks factory killed six workers and injured nine others in southwest China's Guizhou province, officials said.
Provincial work safety bureau officials said the explosion happened at 4:20 p.m. local time Saturday in Pingqiao village, Buyei-Miao autonomous prefecture of Qianxinan, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.

The officials said five workers died at the site and the sixth died en route to the hospital, Xinhua said.
An investigation into the blast was under way.
