Religious groups counter atheist ads

LONDON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Three Christian groups have bought ads on London buses to counter a campaign by a humanist group that suggested there "is probably no God."

The British Humanist Association's campaign sparked at least 150 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority. Now, the Christian Party, the Trinitarian Bible Society and the Russian Orthodox Church have decided to fight fire with fire, The Daily Mail reports.

The humanist ads read: "There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."

The Christian Party ads are to run on 175 buses. Their text takes off directly from the earlier campaign: "There definitely is a God. So join the Christian Party and enjoy your life."

The society's ad uses a well-known Bible passage from Psalm 53: "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God." That text will be on 100 buses.

The orthodox church has purchased ads on 25 buses.
