NEW YORK, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- An alleged mob hitman helped beat up the then-boyfriend of Victoria Gotti, daughter of the late boss John Gotti, a mob turncoat told a jury in New York.
Peter Zuccaro testified he was Charles Carneglia's partner in the 1979 assault on Carmine Agnello, the New York Post reported. Agnello, who later married Victoria Gotti, had hit her and the "Dapper Don" wanted him punished, Zuccaro said.
"We were instructed to go slaughter Carmine. Find him and slaughter him.
Don't kill him," Zucarro told a jury in federal court in Brooklyn.
Carneglia is charged with a series of killings going back to the 1970s.
The group, including Carneglia's brother, beat Agnello with ax handles, Zuccaro said. Carneglia used his personal weapon, a type of blackjack he usually carried tucked into his waistband.
Zuccaro also described the killing of Arthur Gelb, a court officer who was scheduled to testify against Carneglia. Carneglia, who had just attended a wedding, walked into the diner where Gelb was eating and shot him to death, he said.
