ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The lawyer for a Florida woman accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter says he wants the trial moved from Orlando, Fla., to ensure an unbiased jury.
Casey Anthony's case has received too much publicity for her to get a fair trial in the city where she is accused of killing her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, said defense lawyer Jose Baez.
Baez would need to convince Circuit Judge Stan Strickland that it would be impossible to find 12 jurors plus alternates in the Orlando area who haven't already decided whether Anthony is guilty of first-degree murder, The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.
The case, however, has received such intense national media coverage it would be difficult to find a new location, said Diana Tennis, an Orlando defense lawyer who is following the case
"Short of Mars, I don't know where you can send this case," Tennis told the Sentinel.
Casey Anthony has said she is innocent of any wrongdoing in the death of her daughter, who disappeared last June. Caylee's remains were found in December in a wooded area near her home.
