Blago witness Rezko moved to new jail

CHICAGO, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Tony Rezko, a Chicago businessman linked to President Barack Obama and Illinois' former governor, has been moved to a new federal lockup, a U.S. marshal said.

Kim Widup, the head marshal in Chicago, told the Chicago Sun-Times that Rezko was transferred to an unspecified facility from the downtown Metropolitan Correction Center last month.

Widup wouldn't reveal the current whereabouts of Rezko, who is considered a potential witness in the upcoming federal corruption trial of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was impeached and removed from office by the state Legislature.

The newspaper said Tuesday that Rezko had been grousing about being held in solitary confinement at MCC and that the transfer could indicate that federal prosecutors want to keep him cooperative.
