Prosecutors in Caylee case targeted

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Defense attorneys for Casey Anthony, whose missing daughter Caylee was found dead in Florida, say opposing prosecutors should be removed from the case.

Attorneys Linda Kenney Baden and Jose Baez asked this week that prosecutors tabbed for Anthony's trial on first-degree murder charges be removed due to a past Florida Bar investigation into Baez, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Thursday.

Baden said in her legal motion against the prosecution that she had questions regarding the state attorney's office's involvement in the Baez investigation.

Anthony has been accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, who went missing last June and whose remains were found in Orlando, Fla., in December.

Stetson University College of Law professor Charles Rose said the motion filed by the defense attorneys in Anthony's case showed how acrimonious certain legal battles can become.

"The defense thinks in its mind that the state is trying to get them off the case or to call into question the defense attorney's credibility, hoping that somehow that will have an impact at trial," Rose told the Sentinel.

"What you really see is a tit-for-tat. You made me look dirty and so now I'm going to do the same for you."
