BEIJING, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Officials in China say dumplings recalled after a food-poisoning case in Japan did not seriously sicken anyone in China where the dumplings were made.

The frozen meat dumplings made by Tianyang Food Plant were recalled in China and Japan after 10 people in Japan were sickened by a batch in January of last year. The plant, based in Hebei province, has since gone out of business.

Chinese officials Saturday denied reports by Japanese media Friday that the dumplings had also sickened workers at a Chengde Iron and Steel plant in China, reported Xinhua, China's state-run news agency.

One worker at the steel plant complained of discomfort after eating the dumplings but did not need medical attention, Xinhua reported, noting tests of the dumplings consumed by the steel worker showed the food was safe.
