PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Emergency crews were alerted for a Northwest Airlines jetliner landing in Oregon Saturday after the crew noted a low hydraulic pressure reading, officials said.

The Boeing 757, with 225 passengers and seven crew members aboard, landed safely on time and taxied to the gate at Portland International Airport shortly before 11 a.m., The (Portland) Oregonian reported.

Northwest Flight 217 had originated in Minneapolis.

A Northwest spokeswoman said the aircraft's pilot did not call an official emergency but notified air traffic controllers of the abnormally low hydraulic pressure reading as a precaution, The Oregonian said. Fire trucks were deployed as a precaution.
