White House National Security Adviser James Jones and economic adviser Lawrence Summers had been planning to attend, but will remain in Washington to attend to domestic issues.

"Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president who is in touch each day with elected officials, business and community leaders across the nation about the economic challenges they face, will represent the administration at Davos," the official said. "Mr. Summers and General Jones will remain in Washington to advise the president on the near-term issues he must address."
