VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Three off-duty suburban Vancouver cops found themselves under arrest Wednesday for allegedly assaulting and robbing a newspaper deliveryman, authorities said.
Vancouver police said the three unidentified officers -- from the West Vancouver, New Westminster and Delta police departments -- were suspected of attacking a 47-year-old deliveryman from Surrey about 2:30 a.m. outside the Hyatt Regency Vancouver hotel, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
"The men were initially arrested for assault and robbery … and the investigation is continuing," Vancouver Police Constable Jana McGuinness said. "We are not at a point where charges have been laid or where we can recommend anything to Crown counsel.
"What led up to the altercation is still something investigators are looking into. We don't want to speculate at this point. There's some more interviewing to be done."
No one involved in the incident was taken to the hospital, the CBC said.
