MIAMI, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A 37-year-old man punched an infant girl while attempting to steal a sport utility vehicle from a woman in Miami, police allege.
Miami police have accused Francisco Oses of attempting to carjack Jessica Baez, 29, as she and her three children were waiting in their vehicle outside a local Walgreen's last December, The Miami Herald said Wednesday.
Oses was denied bond Tuesday in Miami where he faces charges of aggravated child abuse, attempted carjacking and attempted kidnapping.
Police allege Oses attempted to drive away with Baez's car Dec. 26, forcing the mother to hang from the moving vehicle for 10 feet as she attempted to enter the SUV.
After successfully climbing into the vehicle, Baez pulled the key from the vehicle's ignition and Oses allegedly fled the scene.
A police report alleges Oses punched Baez and her 18-month-old daughter in the face during the incident. The Herald said Oses is due to be arraigned Feb. 4.
