LILLE, France, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A British truck driver and the teenage girl who ran away with him were discovered Wednesday at a British consulate in France.

French police in Lille arrested Robert Williams, 49, The Guardian reported. The officers were summoned by a consulate employee who recognized Williams and Laura Stainforth, 15.

The teen disappeared from her home in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, last week, telling her parents she was going to the store. Investigators discovered that she had met Williams on the Internet.

Detective Chief Inspector Sharon Fielding released photos of the couple Tuesday that had been captured by a security camera on board a cross-Channel ferry Thursday, The Sun reported.

Stainforth is to be returned to her parents as soon as possible, Fielding said.

Williams' second wife described him to The Daily Mail as extremely controlling and said he spent hours on line searching for women. She said his computer was secured so that no one could follow what he was up.
