WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The number of active duty National Guard and Reserve forces has decreased overall in recent days, the U.S. Defense Department said Wednesday.
A Defense Department statement said the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard announced a decrease in the number of reservists activated, while the Navy announced an increase as of last week.
In all, there were 1,064 fewer reservists activated this week than there were last week. The total National Guard and Reserve personnel activated is 125,590 troops.
The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 96,006; Navy Reserve, 6,082; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 15,165; Marine Corps Reserve, 7,572; and the Coast Guard Reserve, 765, the statement said.
