Dust storm blamed for fatal Colorado crash

LIMON, Colo., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Colorado state troopers Tuesday blamed a dust storm for a 15-vehicle pile-up that left two motorists dead and five injured.

The crash occurred Monday afternoon on Colorado 70 about 15 miles east of Limon as winds topping 50 miles per hour created a dust cloud that reduced visibility to nearly zero.

The Colorado State Patrol said in a written statement that five big rigs were among the cars and trucks that killed a 37-year-old Broomfield man and a woman from Arriba. A Missouri man's car was engulfed in flames but troopers say he got out unscathed.

The exact cause of the collision was still under investigation Tuesday and no charges had been filed.
