Bush leaves note for Obama

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Outgoing President George Bush left a personal message for Barack Obama in the drawer of the Oval Office desk, White House aides said Tuesday.

A personal note from the departing president awaiting the incoming commander in chief is a tradition, MSNBC reported. Obama was to be sworn in as the 44th U.S. president just before noon Tuesday.

Aides would not reveal the contents of the message Bush left in the drawer Monday, saying the message was private.

Bush's last night in the White House included some visitors -- his parents, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara, who told reporters her son was "a little emotional" on his last night as president.
