LANCASTER, Texas, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Lancaster, Texas, said as many as 2,000 teenagers were involved in a disturbance after they were denied admission to a movie because of their ages.

Five people were arrested Saturday night on charges including disorderly conduct and marijuana possession at the Cinemark Movies, WFAA-TV, of Dallas-Fort Worth reported Sunday.

The station said many of the youths were at the theater to try and see one of two R-rated films: "Notorious" and "My Bloody Valentine."

Police were called to the theater to help control crowds.

"Just imagine that you have 2,000 kids that can't get into a movie theater because of their age," said Lancaster spokeswoman Ciciely Hickmon. "Once you have a bunch of kids just congregating around with nothing to do, that leaves some things to start to happen."

Police said most of the teens weren't doing anything wrong, and were separated into groups and forced to wait for an adult to pick them up.
